The best public areas for viewing wildlife are Crescent Lake National Wildlife Reserve north of Oshkosh, Ash Hollow State Historical Park located three miles southeast of Lewellen and the bridges crossing the North Platte River. Lake McConaughy lies about 30 miles to the east.
